Marriage is important to God. 

Laban is a picture of the worldly sinner--lost sinner. He is a shrewd businessman. 

Laban saw the earring and bracelets. (Genesis 24, ³⁰ And it came to pass, when he saw the earring and bracelets upon his sister's hands, and when he heard the words of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus spake the man unto me; that he came unto the man; and, behold, he stood by the camels at the well). 

Laban was hospitable for what he could get out of it. (Ephesians 24, ³¹ And he said, Come in, thou blessed of the Lord; wherefore standest thou without? for I have prepared the house, and room for the camels).

Ecclesiastes 12, ¹³ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

We are bought with a price.

The church is the body of Christ.

John 16, ¹³ Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. ¹⁴ He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. ¹⁵ All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Genesis 24:38-48 is a repeat of Genesis 24:15-28.

Jeremiah 33, ³ Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

We walk by faith and not by sight.

Abraham’s servant needed an answer--yes or no. (Genesis 24, ⁴⁹ And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left).

The servant had a mission and a message.

When Abraham’s servant heard their answer, he worshipped the Lord. (Genesis 24, ⁵² And it came to pass, that, when Abraham's servant heard their words, he worshipped the Lord, bowing himself to the earth).

We share the gospel. The Holy Spirit does the work. God does the saving. It was to our advantage that Jesus went to the Father and God sent the Holy Spirit.

Many people today have no fear of God.
