Our Beliefs

Bible

We believe the Bible to be the complete Word of God.

  • We believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testament were inspired by the Spirit of God as originally written.
  • We believe the Bible is the complete, infallible, inerrant, authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe the Bible is exactly what it claims to be--the Word of God, the revelation of God's grace and truth to man. The Holy Spirit guided the human authors of Scripture to ensure that it was recorded without error in the original manuscripts.  (1 Corinthians 2:10:  But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit:  for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God)..
  • We believe the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.  (2 Timothy 3:16:  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness].

God

  • We believe in the only one true and living God, Creator of all, holy, sovereign,  eternal, and self-existent.  (Genesis 1:1:  In the beginning God . . . Romans 1:20:  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse).
  • We believe  God exists eternally in three equal Persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  These three are one in essence but distinct in person and function.  (John 14:10:  Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?  the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself:  but the Father that dwellest in me, he doeth the works.  John 14:26:  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said to you).
  • We believe the foundation of loving God and worshipping Him goes back to Genesis 1.  From the Creation account we learn that God is personal, Spirit, perfect, immutable, omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent.
  • We believe God created us to glorify and honor Him and for His pleasure.  He created us to love Him, worship Him, fellowship with Him, and serve Him.  (Revelation 4:11:  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power:  for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created).

Jesus Christ

  • We believe in His work of creation.
  • We believe the eternal Son became flesh in the virgin birth and continues forever as both true God and true man--one Person with two natures. (Colossians 2:9:  For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily).
  • Jesus was tempted in all points as we are yet without sin.  He gave Himself in death on the cross in full substitution and payment for the sins of all, was buried, and on the third day triumphantly arose physically from the dead and was glorified.  He ascended into Heaven there to appear before the face of God as our Advocate and Intercessor.   (Galatians 4:4-5:  But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.  1 John 3:5:  And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sin; and in him is no sin.  Hebrews 10:12:  But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God).
  • We believe in the pretribulational, premillennial rapture of the church.  (1  Thessalonians 4:15-17:  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first.  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:  and so shall we ever be with the Lord).
  • We believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ--His personal, visible return to earth to establish a theocratic kingdom for 1,000 years. (Revelation 20:4:  And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them:  and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years).

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity whose task is to glorify God by:

  • Convicting men of sin and drawing them unto Christ.
  • Regenerating those who believe in Him.
  • Empowering believers for the work of the ministry.
  • Comforting and guiding the believer in their walk with Christ.

Mankind

We believe Adam was divinely created in the image and likeness of God.

  • We believe that in Adam's sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God.
  • We believe man is totally depraved and of himself utterly unable to remedy his lost condition.
  • We believe all men therefore are guilty before God and condemned to physical and spiritual death.  There is no possible salvation outside of Christ and His shed blood.

satan

  • We believe Satan is a fallen angel--a real spirit being--who has been given temporary rulership on the earth by the sovereign God.  He is the enemy of God and man and deceives the world.
  • We believe Satan will be bound for a thousand years (Revelation 20:1-3:  And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.  And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years.   And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled:  and after that he must be loosed a little season).
  • We believe Satan will be released at the end of the 1,000-year reign to be cast into the Lake of Fire.  (Revelation 20:10:  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever).

Salvation

We believe salvation is by the sovereign grace of God.

  • We believe,  owing to spiritual death through sin, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless born again [saved].  (Mark 1:15:  And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand:  repent ye, and believe the gospel).
  • We believe we are saved through faith alone, by grace alone, through Christ alone, to the glory of God alone and not by works. (Ephesians 2:8-9: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast).
  • We believe all who will repent of sin and trust Christ alone are saved.

Heaven and Hell

  • We believe in the eternal blessedness of the saved in a literal place called Heaven.  The saved go immediately to Heaven when they die and will be judged in the relationship of rewards following the rapture of the church [BEMA].
  • We believe at death the unsaved are held in Hell until the time of the Great White Throne judgment when they will be raised in bodily form and cast into the Lake of Fire for final and everlasting punishment.
  • Matthew 25:46:  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment:  but the righteous into life eternal.

The Great Commission

  • We believe in Matthew 28:19-20:  Jesus' Commission:  "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.  Amen."
  • We believe Jesus' last words on earth before He ascended to heaven was His command:  Set your mind to sharing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We believe that Jesus Christ commissioned His disciples to GO and preach the Gospel to every creature.

The Church

  • We believe Christ is the only head of the church.  We believe in the autonomy of the local church free of any external authority or control.  Its offices are pastor and deacon.  (Ephesians 1:22:  And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all).
  • We believe the New Testament Church is a local assembly of baptized believers who have voluntarily joined themselves for worship, prayer, teaching, and fellowship.
  • We believe in two scriptural ordinances for the church in this age:  (1) Water baptism by immersion.  The prerequisite to baptism is the new birth.  Baptism does not provide salvation.  Baptism is identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection and not a means of grace.  (2) The Lord's Super as a memorial and not a means of grace.  (Matthew 28:19:  "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."  1 Corinthians 11:24-25:  And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat:  this is my body, which is broken for you:  this do in remembrance of me.  After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood:  this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me).
  • We believe God has given the church the great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations.  [Matthew 28:19-20]

israel

  • We believe the church came into being on the day of Pentecost and will continue until it is taken to Heaven at the Rapture.
  • We believe the church has not replaced Israel in God's plan.  God will one day restore Israel as a nation.  (God's covenant with Israel:  Romans

11:25-29:  For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.  And so all Israel shall be saved:  as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.  For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.  As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes:  but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.  For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance).
