Ephesians 1:3-14 are one long paragraph about our riches in Christ.
In whom: our security in Christ. (Ephesians 1, 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise).
2 Corinthians 1, 22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
Romans 1, 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
The believer is God’s possession.
earnest: no repossession; paid in full. He paid off our sin debt. (Ephesians 1, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory).
1 Thessalonians 4, 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Romans 8, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Ephesians 1:14: Glorification in view. No more sin.
